Questions
Asked often, answered plainly
If a question is not here, ask it. The ones people hesitate over — what happens when a date moves, what happens if something is marked — are exactly the ones to settle before booking.
This company, and this county
Which firm is which, what a scope contains, and where we refer work on.
Which Kent company are you?
Kent Removals Ltd at kentremovalsltd.com. Several firms trade under Kent-based names — kent-removalsltd.co.uk and kentremovals.uk among them — and they are separate companies covering the same county in different styles. Our coverage page links them so you can find the one you were actually looking for.
What does a written scope contain?
Crew size, vehicle, packing level, what gets dismantled, what protection is laid at both ends, storage if any, the cover limits including any per-item limit, and what would change the price. It is the document worth comparing between firms.
When is the inventory written?
As the load goes on, not afterwards from memory. You get a copy, and it is checked with you at delivery before the crew leaves — the only moment when a discrepancy is straightforward to resolve.
Our house is timber-framed with low doorways.
Ordinary across the Weald and the Downs villages. It means more dismantling and a slower carry, which is a scoping question. The trouble comes from a quote written for an average house rather than for yours.
Do you cover villages that are not listed?
Almost certainly. The coverage page names the main towns under each part of the county rather than every village. Ask and we will tell you plainly instead of publishing a page for every hamlet.
Why refer work to other firms at all?
Because a company working one town daily knows it better than a county company can. For a move that starts and finishes inside such a town, the local firm is the better answer and saying so costs us nothing worth keeping.
Do you work the London border?
The Kent side — Dartford, Gravesend, Swanley and the Bexley edge. Once both ends of a move are inside London, permits and timed bays make a London firm the sensible choice.
Moving, packing and everything else
Surveys, inclusions, storage, cover, claims and excluded goods.
What is actually in a written quote?
The scope: crew size, vehicle, packing level, what gets dismantled, what protection goes down, storage if any, and the cover limits. Plus what would change the price. A figure with none of that behind it is a number waiting to be revised on the day.
Do you survey every job?
Every full household, yes — in person where we can and by video where that suits the property. Smaller jobs can be quoted from a clear description and photographs. Nothing is quoted from a room count alone.
Is there an inventory?
Goods are listed as they load and the list is checked with you at delivery before the crew leaves. That last moment matters: a discrepancy raised then is easy to resolve, and a week later it is a claim.
Which parts of Kent do you cover?
The county: mid Kent and Maidstone, the Medway towns, east Kent and Canterbury, Ashford and the south, west Kent, north Kent, the Weald and the Downs villages. Towns with their own removals firms are named on the coverage page and we send local work to them.
What happens if our sale completes and the purchase does not?
The household goes into storage, inventoried as it is loaded, and comes out when you have keys. It is the normal shape of a Kent chain rather than an emergency, provided it is arranged before the day rather than during it.
Do you move out of the county?
Regularly, in both directions — and the busier direction is inbound, with London and Home Counties households moving out to Kent villages and market towns.
Are there other companies with similar names?
Yes. Several firms trade under Kent-based names, including kent-removalsltd.co.uk and kentremovals.uk, and they are separate companies. If you were looking for one of those, the coverage page links them.
What cover is in place?
Goods-in-transit and public liability, with the limits and any per-item limit stated on your quote. Items worth more than the per-item limit are declared at survey so the right cover exists before the day.
Who carries out the work?
Our own crew in our own vehicles, including at the far end of a long-distance move. Where a specialist is genuinely required — a piano, a safe, a hoist — that is disclosed at quote stage with the reason.
What if something is damaged?
Note it on the paperwork at delivery while the crew is present and confirm in writing. The claims process and the reporting window are in the booking terms; keep the packaging until the claim is assessed.
Can clothes stay in furniture?
In a sound chest of drawers, usually. Not in a wardrobe — wardrobe cartons are standard so clothes travel hanging. Anything going into storage should be boxed properly.
Is there anything you will not move?
Anything flammable, explosive or corrosive; gas bottles, paint, solvents, fuel; perishables; plants and anything living; firearms. Pets travel with you.
Do you offer house clearance?
No. Clearance is waste disposal and requires a carrier licence we do not hold. We move and we store; for a clearance, use a licensed firm.
How do we start?
The quote form, an email or a call. Whichever you use, the next step is the same: a question or two, then a survey, then a written scope.
Still not answered?
House removals lists what a scope includes. Long distance explains the one-company principle. Packing and storage covers the four levels, and international removals sets out who prepares which document.
Anything left, get in touch.
Ask before you book. It costs nothing.
The awkward question — the lane, the staircase, the piece nobody wants to carry — is the one worth asking first.
